Sassyzeal

The first time I heard about the Asian Ghost House is in “Unang Hirit”, a morning show in GMA Network. Though I’m not fond of horror stories, it really caught my attention because it is something new to try. We went to Ocean Park as we intended to enter this interesting Horror house. For me, this horror house is unique because of the new concept. They featured legendary horror characters of asia such as sadaco, ghost, Chinese vampire, the meat loving Butcher, Zombie, Cheongsam and Count Dracula. They are really creepy!
The horror house runs from Oct. 2,2012 to Nov.3,2012 - Thurs - Sat. We visited the site on its last day, November 3, 2012, Saturday night.

RATES:

Metrodeal rate: P350.00 - Including Drinks in Liquid Pool and Lounge
Inquiry through Phone: P 350.00 – (including entrance and picture)
On site rate: We asked the person in photo booth and he advised us that buying entrance ticket and paying for a photo separate would be cheaper.

Entrance Ticket: P 200.00
Photo:                  P 100.00
TOTAL:                 P 300.00

We only bought one copy of picture so we spent a total of P 500.00 for Asian Ghost House instead of P 700.00 .
Here is the picture

How was the experience inside the Horror House?
Along the way to Ocean Park, I am totally excited to see the Asian Ghost House. I am afraid to miss the experience because this is the last day they will run for this year. Surprisingly, upon entering the door of the Ghost house, I suddenly felt nervous and I stepped back. The staff who will be escorting us to the way hindered me. He said, he will be accompanying us until the end. He also said that there is no touch policy inside. Characters wouldn’t touch us and we shouldn’t touch them too. Okay, I have no choice but to proceed. Whoow! As expected, there is nothing I did but to scream the whole time. I didn’t even see the faces of those characters I longed to see. I am not neurotic actually; I am so “magugulatin talaga”, super! I keep on screaming “Mommy!! Mommy!! And then I have an alternate dialogue. “Kuya!!! Stop it please!!! Ayoko na!! Ayoko na!!”. And then I also said this. “Please stop it! I have a heart illness!”
Haha..I said it to convince them to stop scaring us. But hello! I just realized after that they will won’t because that is their job. The louder the visitor scream, the more effective they were.

At the end door, I still keep on screaming until I noticed that the place is different and there are people walking calmly. It is the Liquid Bar! The horror house set-up is very brilliant. It is just like a long thrilling journey that will end up into a hidden Paradise, a party area with the stroke of aquatic scenery, laser like lights and rocky walls.

See more about Liquid bar and Lounge at Ocean Park

To sum it up, we really got what we paid for, for a P200.00 entrance fee. For such quick yet thrilling experience, we ended up the October and welcomed November sensibly.

Happy haloween!!

The best way to enjoy your vacation is to experience unique things you never had, eat the best tasting food in town, meet people, sum-up learned things at the end of the trip and to enjoy the ambiance of your travel destination. All of these things are achievable without spending too much! You don’t need to wait for too long just to afford your vacation. Only with the adequate backpacking preparation, mood setting and lots of searching ability!

Accommodation eats up the largest allocation of a traveler’s budget. Especially for most of the famous tourist destination, hotel rates are very pricey. It ranges P 2500.00 – P 7000.00 for a single room, which is enough for only two persons depending on the hotel quality. If there is lower than P 2500.00, well you must think of it first, remember, “We are getting what we paid for”. If you paid less don’t expect that you will get much.

Good thing I found out a pension house, which a budget traveler can afford without sacrificing comfort and enjoyment!

                                                             (Bone marrow soup)

Mahogany Market is known when it comes to “Bulalo Experience” because this market is a best source of fresh beef from batangas.

So we did not hesitate to search for this place when we went to Tagaytay.
Mahogany Market looks as any typical wet market. There are vegetables and fruit section, fish section, dried food section, condiments section and wider area for meat section.

Outside it has plant section where varieties of plants either flowering or herbal are for sale. There is a row of food eatery where their main course is bulalo and also serves different Filipino viands.  Each stall has different way to attract costumers. Some offers free dessert or fruit, some showcases the comfort of their area and some have their promoters (their waitress/waiters) who persuades people walking around to eat on their eatery. Nevertheless, we would like to taste the best Bulalo in town!

After choosing where we would eat, we finally picked one without any basis. The Bulalo cost P 300.00. This is good for 3-4 persons. We ordered one and three rice just to fulfill our curiosity why Mahogany Markets bulalo is famous. We waited for the Bulalo to be served for 10 –15 min.

The bulalo was served with steamer to keep it hot.

In all fairness, the bulalo taste good as the beef was fresh for the price of P 300.00.
However, Leslie’s Bulalo stays on top still for me.

How to get to Mahogany Market Tagaytay

Ride bus going to Nasugbu, Alfonso, Balayan, Mendez, Cavite Ask the driver to drop you off at Mahogany Market. The market is along the road going to batangas.

There is a signboard at the corner of the Mahogany Market.

What I like about this zoo is that, they have tailored program for their visitors. During the day that we visited this place, there was also scheduled kid’s excursion. In a certain part of the Residence Inn, there is open auditorium-like area where the kids and moms can sit. The management conducted a program that both kids and moms/parents enjoyed. They prepared games and educational trivia about pets that they have showed to the kids. The first part of the program, they asked four volunteer moms to come on mini stage. They called some staff at the back of the stage to bring the first animal they wanted to introduce to the audience. Surprisingly, it was Franz (the python) who came out. They let the four moms to carry Franz while the emcee is telling information about this python. I admired these moms because they were not afraid of Franz unlike me. Then they thank and gave prizes to moms who participated. The next participants were kids. Three kids get in front and then three animals were also called from the backstage.

Dancing Robots pulled me from the audience and asked me to join them do the fun. At the end of the show, the Residence Inn production Manager gave a token of appreciation for being "So Cool" -- as he said ! and being part of that production number hahah! ( I just don't want to be kill joy anyway) FREE ZIP LINE EXPERIENCE!!! Plus perks and privilege cards to all zoo and amusement under zoomanity group of companies. haha!! (I don't know If I will feel excited as they announced that! because I am really afraid of Zip Line!! I was shocked) But then of course, I am very thankful that aside from letting us enjoy in Residence Inn, they did appreciate and treated their guest well.  Thank you Residence inn!! Such a great experience.

Aside from magic show and dancing robots, Residence Inn also provides educational trip to kids. They do discuss all about the animals in the zoo, trivia and their history.

We paid for:

ENTRANCE FEE:   P 200.00 / head
For SMAC holder: P 160.00 / head

Updated Entrance fee as of November 2012:P 250
SMAC holder: 20% off

TIP: If you have an SM Advantage Card, bring this and often review your privileges.  Some partner establishments are not posting that they offer promo/ discount for privilege card holder on their cashier. Like in our case, we weren’t aware that we are entitled a 20 % discount on Residence Inn entrance fee if we did not tell them that we saw it in SMAC (SM Advantage Card privilege catalogue). 20 % discount is somewhat a saving.

Residence Inn looks wider outside than the actual parameter inside. In front of Residence Inn, you will see a large stable with several horses inside. It is situated at the center of a round green field.

Entering Residence Inn, you will first see a cab in the lobby. The purpose if it is for the visitor’s to personally get in touch with the cab, put it on their lap and take some picture for souvenir. If you have your own camera, you will need to pay P25.00 or P50.00 I think, for you to have the cab on your lap. (I can’t remember the actual price because I did not want to move even closer to the cab because I'm afraid of it).

Then at the right side of the entrance, there is a Photo booth, where you can buy pictures per package (taken picture of you with the animals inside the zoo). It cost for about P199.00 pet set.

At the lobby, there are two directions, If you will turn left, you will be directed to Bird feeding area, Mini Safari, Movie are, Restaurant, Magic Showing Area, Zipline and residence Inn overview. Going straight ahead to the covered area, you will see, fishes on lots of aquarium, reptiles on a maze-like way and will find the python shown on the picture below at the exit door. Though, these directions are separate way, both will bring you to Restaurant / Zipline and Magic showing area. They are all connected.

Here are some of the animals we saw in the zoo, mostly, tigers:

We can actualy move closer as this to the tigers. Just be sure not to reach your hand to them.

Picnic Grove is too wide to for us to stay in one place. After we tried the wohh! The breath taking Zipline, we walked to Hanging Bridge and took some pictures of it. I like the symmetry of the ropes. This is perfect for pre-nuptial shooting for couple who love adventure and nature. The hanging bridge is made of old wood and thick ropes. Like what I’m always saying, I’m afraid of heights yet I dare to cross the bridge as I can see that It is safe though it is old. It is connecting the picnic area where lots of cottages are located near the Zipline and the other part of the picnic grove where the entrance is near.
