Tired? Exhausted? Stressed? Well, you should try what I’ve tried, a new approach of spa experience in ACE WATER SPA.

I have a Canadian friend who I haven’t seen for four years. We met in a tour in Palawan year 2009. Luckily, she will be staying in Manila for six months and so we decided to go out for a bonding. I was thinking what activities or place she hasn’t tried. What things will excite her and where is the best place I can bring her to? A place where we can freely catch up with each other, a relaxing place where we can cool down from fatigue and a place which will be a very remarkable place for her with me. Considering these things, ACE WATER SPA came into my mind. PERFECT!

 Why? Here are the reasons…

I believe that having a traditional body massage is something that we can always try anywhere especially for her, who have been in different countries to discover new things. In Ace water spa, the massage method is through hydrotherapy which involves the use of heated water and Ultrasonic Jet System to relieve body pain, relax and soothe tired and aching muscles.

Ace Water Spa facilities are divided into different sections for a purpose. Each has one-push button equipment which you can do it yourself and decide which you want to try first.

There is Soft massage Section (Bubble Bed, Bubble Pool, Bubble Massage and Hydro-Acupuncture Bed), Moderate massage section (Rainfall Acupuncture, Eight Nozzle Shower, Hydro-Buoyancy Massage, Buttocks Massage, Jet Chair and Jet Chair with foot massage) and hard massage section (Head & Shoulder Massage, Water Falls, Multi-point Massage, Chest Jet Massage, Waist Jet Massage, Upper Body Jet Massage, High Pressure Massage). They also have Sauna and steam room, herbal pool/Jacuzzi, cold pool and kiddie area. You may want to know more about their facilities, their purposes and to know more on how to fully enjoy Ace Water Spa, find it out in this post: ACE WATER SPA FACILITIES AND THINGS TO KNOW TO FULLY ENJOY YOUR EXPERIENCE.

Among all, my favorite is the Herbal Jacuzzi Area. From the very first glance, I knew that it will be a great experience for my exhausted body and mind. When you first look at it, four herbal Jacuzzi is near the sauna and steam room. Jasmine Jacuzzi has a very dramatic look which will pull you to plunge into it. It has yellow orange lighted water that portrays a very warm feeling which is very appropriate to its temperature (which is 38 degree Celsius). The jasmine scent is very fascinating added with the effect of the candle at each corner. When I went home, I felt like the smell stays in my skin. I felt invigorated. The recommended time to stay here is 2-3 minutes but we stayed here for about an hour! There is a steal barrel at each sides of the Jacuzzi where you can hold on while plunging into the heated water. The unique fact is that, this barrel has a colding technology that cools down your body and longer your tolerance while immersing in the hot water. Cool! Beside the Jasmine Jacuzzi is black colored water (I’m not sure if it’s black or dark blue, because there is no light effect under the water). This is the Lavender Jacuzzi with the temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. This is good for diabetic, insomniac and anyone who would like to be energized. The lavender scent keeps the skin soft and smooth which I noticed. Sadly, when we went there, Mint Jacuzzi was unavailable. It was under construction. Even though! The experience was still priceless!

Another thing that completes this spa is the Steam and Sauna room. Sauna and steam is one way to detoxify our body. It removes excess water and fats from the body. Our skin cleanses as our pores open and release trapped dirt and oil. In between the mint Jacuzzi and lavender and Jasmine Jacuzzi, there is a mini pool where water is cold. This is the fastest way to cool down after using the hot herbal pools, steam or sauna. Contrast Therapy Plunge is a special hydrotherapy experience wherein an alternate plunging into the hot herbal pools and cool pool takes place. Great! Totally relaxing! Rejuvenating!

Afterwards, we decided to get floating foam and lay down on it while allowing ourselves to go with the water flow around the pool with Lazy River. We fell asleep for about half an hour. It was actually a perfect timing for us because there was no crowd and we had a very peaceful stay in ACE.

For more information, entrance fee, must wear and tips, you may read: ACE WATER SPA FACILITIES AND THINGS TO KNOW TO FULLY ENJOY YOUR EXPERIENCE.

When I think of “great beaches”, It is always Boracay, Bohol, Palawan and Cebu which comes into my mind. This summer, my destination is Cebu!!! I heard that there are lots of fun and exciting things to do in Cebu and most specially, there are plenty of mouth watering foods to try there.
Just to share our experience, we don’t have prepared itinerary upon going there and the disadvantages are:

1.      We didn’t maximize our time there on our first day. We were expecting that upon arrival to the hotel, there will be travel agencies that would offer tours just like in Palawan. Unfortunately, there was none. So we decided to go on our own via cab.

2.      We spent much time in deciding where to go first and how. On the spot researching was hassle.

3.      There was the possibility of exceeding to allotted budget. Since, we didn’t have a prepared itinerary. Our system here was “go with the flow”. Anywhere we think we can go without the awareness of how much we would spend. Another thing was the transportation budget would double. Like what happened to us. We arrived at 8am in the morning in Mactan then rode a cab going to the hotel in Cebu City. Our taxi bill costs P 260 plus, so we gave P 350. Then later on, we went back to Lahug for Food Trip searching.

Anyway, that was just a sort of learning, the most important is, overall, we really did enjoy the whole trip!

Here is our Itinerary:

First day:
Arrival at Mactan Airport
Duty Free Shopping
Arrival to Crown Regency
Food Trip at The walk, Asia Town I.T Park Lahug, Cebu City
Malling
Swimming at Crown Regency
Sky walk Experience
Day 2:
Crown Regency breakfast Buffet
Beach hopping
Mactan and Cebu City Tour
Food trip at night

Day 3
Crown Regency Breakfast Buffet
Departure from Mactan, Cebu

Passion is a Cantonese fine dining Restaurant located at the second floor of Maxim Hotel, Resorts World Manila. It is situated near the airport (NAIA), in New Port Manila, Pasay. I am not fond of Chinese food but since we do not want to dine in any busy restaurants available in New Port Mall, we decided to go to Maxim Hotel and found a fine dining restaurant. Initially, we planned to try Impression Restaurant. It is the best fine dining restaurant in 2012. However, we then preferred to reserve that experience for the next special occasion.

All you can eat Dimsum at P750 is available from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Daily Operating hours:
Lunch 11:00 am – 2:30 pm
Dinner 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm

We arrived at the Passion at 5:35 PM and so we were assisted to the waiting area outside of the restaurant. There is a wide area with seats and Resorts World Magazine available. We were given a Menu in advance so we were able to choose our orders.
Waiting Area
Passion Restaurant Wide entrance

There was a kiddie party In one of the VIP Room when we went there that’s why we saw Mickey and Mini at the entrance.

Bold chicken / duck hanged in the kitchen visible in a wide glass outside the resto.

They served us complimentary nuts and tea.
We ordered Chef’s recommended Passion Vegetable Hot Salad (P 288)

We initially ordered Roasted Crispy Duck in Plum Sauce for our main course, however, ducks were not available for almost a month. And so, we changed it to Malaysian Style Hainan’s Chicken (P 488)
Hainan’s Rice (P100)
Almond Jelly with Mix Fruits for desert (P 208) (No picture)

New Port Sunset Shake (P 180)

Good thing we didn’t order much because we were too full already and we were not able to eat them all. There are more Chinese food choices aside from these. Shanghai dumplings, abalone, bird’s nest and many more. Passion has 400 seating capacity perfect for any big event. They also have seven VIP rooms for small group, family or friends get-together.
Service
Passion staffs are very accommodating. They have a fast serving time upon guest's arrival. They see to it that there is an assigned person that will look over to every customer's table.
Prices are subject to additional service charge.
Having a Resorts World membership card entitled us with a 10% discount on our bill J.
For inquiries/reservations, you can call them up at (+632) 908 8875.

Before we started eating, we had fun garnishing our own plate by using all the available food on our table.

Here is mine.

And this is his
HAPPY EATING!!!

Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm is under the Bureau  of Corection, Department of Justice. Iwahig Prison is the subject of an award winning documentary film “out of Bonds” way back 2005 by a French Director Alexandre Lebergne.
Iwahig is an open air penal colony with 38,000 hectars.  Prisoners  of Iwahig are those long term prisoners who passed the probationary period. They were allowed to become fishermen, farmers and wardens. They are self-managed and self-supporting. They organized their community and find their living inside Iwahig Penal Farm.

I was amazed with how life of second chance would be more peaceful and free for the prisoners of Iwahig Penal Farm where discipline, integrity and freedom are smoothly implemented.

"Biangguan man ay paraiso rin sa patakarang maka Diyos at makatao"

Iwahig Penal Farm is a clear picture of a sound rural community. Imagine how disciplined people here are. We asked Bro. James how many percentage of prisoners are escaping from Iwahig and he said "very rare". Well, if we'll come to think of it, if I were a prisoner of Iwahig and no one is waiting for me outside the penal , I would rather stay in this peaceful community.
Getting inside the community will take you to a bumpy and dusty road. There is no entrance fee to be paid here. The only thing is that, you will need to either commute or rent a van or tricycle going here which I already mentioned in my previous post.
Greenery with the view of mountain
Sports Court and School
Row of Nipa Hut where prisoners and Staffs dwell
Souvenir Shop
Upon arriving in Recreation Hall, some of "kosa" (term use to refer to co-inmate) fetched us from the van and guided us going up to the recreation hall with umbrella. They are very accommodating and  friendly.
Here is the front view of Iwahig recreation Hall. The structure is very hispanic.
If Cebu have the youtube celebrity dancing inmates, Iwahig have it too! These three gentlemen rendered a dance number while we are buying souvenirs!

There are handcrafted souvenirs that you can buy here. They were personally created by the inmates.

Most of these are carved items! I bought this coin purse made from coconut shell painted with embossed blue flower and faded gold plated bracelet with heart shaped padlock.
There are key chains too! The legendary pasalubong for everyone! Haha!
So cool! These great creations are the symbol of the inmate's creativity, hardwork, productivity and a proof that every wrong decision or act in the past can be corrected. Chances are for those people who repented and who faced the consequences of their wrong deeds. Life is too short, do not wait to regret because we can make it right today.
